Rasmus Munk, celebrated for his avant-garde culinary approach at Copenhagen’s Alchemist, has collaborated with SpaceVIP, a prestigious luxury space travel agency, and Space Perspective, a company specializing in carbon-neutral spaceflight experiences, to introduce ‘stratospheric dining’ aboard a six-hour flight departing from Florida, USA, in 2025.
With only a single table accommodating six guests, the experience comes with a hefty price tag, starting at $495,000 per ticket, as announced by the partners.
Alchemist Chef Rasmus Munk Launches Gastronomic Journey to the Stratosphere
Ascending to 100,000 feet above sea level aboard Space Perspective’s Spaceship Neptune, propelled by a ‘SpaceBalloon’ rather than a conventional rocket, diners will be adorned in bespoke attire courtesy of fashion house Ogier. They will savor ‘the meal of a lifetime’ amidst the rarefied air, witnessing the sunrise over the curvature of Earth, as described by the partners.
Alchemist boasts an award-winning wine selection, with beverages, including wine, provided to guests throughout the journey, assured a restaurant spokesperson.
Despite the confined space onboard, meticulous preparations ensure that several food components are readied just before liftoff. Chef Munk will operate a ‘mini-kitchen’ on the craft itself, devoid of open flames but equipped to heat, finish, and garnish dishes during the flight.
Dine Amongst the Stars: Rasmus Munk’s Exclusive Space Dining Experience
As co-owner of the two-Michelin-starred Alchemist, Munk aims to incorporate dishes inspired by six decades of human space exploration, reflecting its societal and philosophical impact.
Munk stated, ‘Immersiveness lies at the heart of Holistic Cuisine. My aspiration is to seamlessly meld gastronomy with art and science, fostering awareness about social and environmental concerns. Serving food while gazing at the Earth’s curvature in this experience is profoundly significant.’
Inspired by his childhood visit to Copenhagen Planetarium, Munk designed Alchemist’s domed main dining room.
Roman Chiporukha, founder of SpaceVIP and board member of the Space Prize, hailed the venture as an ‘unprecedented culinary odyssey.’
This endeavor marks the inaugural voyage in a series offered by Space Perspective, curated in collaboration with Space VIP and renowned artists, according to the two organizations.
Jane Poynter, founder and co-CEO of Space Perspective, remarked, ‘Through our unique spaceflights, we facilitate potentially life-altering moments for individuals—a transformative shift in human perspective regarding the world and our role within it.’
Proceeds from the event will support the Space Prize Foundation’s mission to advance gender equity in science and technology.”
